Here is a piece of amber that was given to me when I was younger.

For those that did not know, amber is fossilized tree resin; sap that has hardened, entombing whatever
gets caught in the sticky mess.

Lots of you guys know I like to take closeups, so lets zoom in ;D

These termites are not the only things found in this piece.

A very small fly, no more then a speck to the naked eye comes into view.
but for this little guy, my camera needs some help from my stereoscopic microscope

I hope you enjoyed the journey(and the pictures :D )

I think those macro shots are more of a treasure than the amber. Truly outstanding photography!

Beautiful Amber, & great photography.
I have a small piece with a mosquito in it.

Fossis..............

Great pics. What a great fossil you have. Having an insect preserved for millions of years and it looks like they are still alive.

Never seen shots like those. Just great photography, thanks for the look.

I wonder if DNA is still good in preserved bugs like that? Not that we don't have enough bugs, but it would be neat to clone a million year old bug. Or would it? Monty

Excellent pics. Years ago I polished many pounds of amber for a rock shop. Occasionally I would find that the bubbles, as possibly in your pictures, would contain water. Take your piece and turn it slowly, while under magnification, and look for movement of a tiny air bubble within a bubble to show if such is the case. Love that stuff.

Thats absolutely one of the coolest things that ive ever seen! Thanks for sharing. :o :o :o

Great story and what a set up for pictures. That was really a neat thing to see.
Thanks.
