Very slow day, in the middle of no where. Walked along this creek, obviously to make sure i knew how to get out .lol. Anyhow, on the way out. By the the waters edge i found a wheat. So i stuck the coil in the creek(foot or two)...just for fun, i guess hoping i didn't get a signal. But i did, good one. So off i went, soaked to the bone, covered in Alabama red clay. After a few minutes came across a board, ...kept going....came across what felt like a handle. wouldn't budge, so i went all in for it.. cold water and dirty to the bone....
Was about to just break the handle from the wood then the creek bed released my treasure.
this is what finally came up..

sheet of plywood 3x3....two handles. 5 nuts on reverse, on 1/2 plywood?
Hand wiped one of them down with a garden...
great patina, once it dried...

Looks like you got a handle on things!

Really cool adventure, anytime you're able to hunt around water makes it so tranquil. Beautiful coloring after drying, so pretty.

Re: Fun day in the hidden creek

Not a coffin or coffin handles. So sleep tight. Coffin hands were not "swingers," they were hard-core and solids, waiting for a strong hand to be inside of them.

Looks like a keepsake box, so don't worry about it, but 3X3 seems a weird size for any type of permanent box.

Old Military Footlocker?

I used to work in an army surplus store and it looks like the remains of an old military style footlocker. Maybe that is what it was!

Not a military footlocker, too many handles and an odd size.

I think this might have been a tradesman or carpenter's tool box.
Those handles are fairly modern . . . say from the 1940's or 50's. :icon_scratch:
