Went out yesterday to the Verde Antique Marble quarry mountain, I call it the Black Jade Mountain, to collect and scope out where to camp and set up for the tailgate party in March put on by the Victor Valley Gem and Mineral Cub. VVGMC - Tailgate If you're in the area you gotta come out.

I dragged the kids 3/4 of the way up the mountain which is a hell of a hike. On my way down I found some beautiful outcroppings which sprung forth the minerals below. Some nice quartz with what I believe has some Prase Quartz in it, as well as actinolite, specular hematite and some fantastic marble. I have several more, similar specimens besides these.

I'll be doing a full report, including video, on my site as soon as I sober up. :occasion14:

Nice specimens! You know it is not good to drink and prospect while hiking down steep slopes! One could have the leading leg slip with the other leg behind thus doing a split and if you land on a rock, you could damage your' other rocks, lol!!

Those would be "jewels" Frank! Knock on wood they have not been victims to the mountain yet....

I do the drinking at home to dull the pain of a deteriorating body after a long day of rockhounding.

Cheers

I know what you mean! There is nothing like several cold beers or strong shots of bourbon to ease the pain from a long day of Gold Prospecting as well.
