G R lock swing plate

I found this today in the same area where I’ve found 2 colonial-era flat buttons and the Hudson Bay Company beaver token I shared recently. Sand/gravel bar, eastern Iowa. I think it’s a lock swing plate. It’s marked with a crown and G R, and I assume PATENT but it almost looks like the P is missing and the last T is an upside down L. It’s crudely and unevenly made; looks handmade to me. The markings almost look hand-embossed. I assume the G R is George Rex(King George), I just wondered if anyone has any idea from the markings or style which George

Mississippi. The sand/gravel bar the finds come from is a „dumping-off spot“ for the river at a major bend. For example, for the last couple years I’ve collected approximately 40 lbs of lead each year from the same 300 yd +/- stretch. I’ll clear it out, just surface finds, and after the next years high water, it’s deposited more. Same goes for projectile points, vintage bottles and beer cans, etc. This is the 1st year in 10 years I’ve used a detector there

Sound like that MD will make searching a lot more interesting. My granddaddy lived his entire life in Burlington, Iowa with the exception of his service in France in WW1. I spent a lot of time with him fishing or just walking on the banks of the Mississippi when I was young.
