I found this today in the Nodaway river in southwest Iowa. It is close to being a perfect sphere. Might be an early attempt of putting the divots in Fred Flintstones golf ball!!

Cool piece. The divots could have come bouncing off other stones in the river.

Cool find. Can you put a coin in there for size reference?

I used some blue chalk to highlight the markings.

I don't mean to rain on Clarks parade but I believe that to be a concretion and not a game ball. I'm not saying an Abo didnt pick it up and use it though... It wasnt pecked and ground into a sphere imo.

I don't understand how someone can make a positive identification of an object from some poor quality pictures. Myself I would want to hold the object in my hands before I gave my opinion on it in a public setting!! Just saying.

Are you forgetting that all we have here are images Clark? We don't have smell-a-vision nor feel-a-vision. What is said here are opinions only based on our experience, what we see, what is said and not so much emphasis on the latter.

So what would it take for you to declare something to be a gameball?

I don't have the experience it takes to positively identify one. I never said yours was or was not. So, I guess if I saw an Indian playing a game with one and then he handed it to me, I'd say for sure this is a game ball.

Fair enough. What did you see in the pictures that made you say that it is a concretion?

Are you sure that's not a "Mini-Moon?" :laughing7:
