Hello All. I found this a few days ago in a small town curb strip near a 1950's house. It is 2.5-IN tall, made of brass, and has no markings holes or threads in it. It looks like some sort of game piece to me.

Thanks for the view and any ideas. Good Luck out there. C9

If it's wooden, my guess is the top of a furniture piece.

Rook, Cambria notes that it is made of brass.
Agreed, could definitely be a chess piece (which, given the confusion here, is why I prefer to play with regulation Staunton pieces). :)

To me, it also looks very similar to those game pieces from the Parcheesi board game.
But I don't recall ever seeing one made brass, or any other metal.

At 2 1/2 inches, it would be unusually large for a pawn. Also, since chess is typically played with black and white pieces, what would the opposing pieces be made of if this were a chess piece?

I could see it as a piece from a set similar to this one below.

Looks like a pawn to me. I’ve seen chess pieces made out of rocks, brass, wood you name it. A lot of times chess boards are like a display piece so color of the pieces don’t mean much.
