Been clearing a plot out of the Sumac trees in an old coral area for a garden, 4 ploughs, 2 tillings and now the sowing of the seed is underway. Thinking after I saw a couple of pieces of glass that I should run a coil over the area once again as I tried a year ago and the long grass and the 250+ Sumac trees prevented any detecting success. So I dropped the coil for an hour, and the first thing I saw was dug holes! no footprints. The first target was the back half of a two piece button and I couldn't find the front section no how I tried. Then I got part of an American folding ruler end which was sort of cool.

I caught the culprit for the hole digging and got her covered with the 11" coil. :) So now I have to stack off the nesting pits that she dug and wait for the babies, 300+meters from the water she traveled.

The surprise of the hunt was the 1812-1816 Sir Issac Brock 1/2 penny token. The spelling "Brook" is incorrect, as it should read "Brock"

The assorted finds from the short hunt, and I might drop the coil after putting up some protection fencing for the wildlife to keep them out of the garden plot.

Thanks for looking and HH to all.

I got this dagger or throwing knife today, it has a brass wire wrapped handle. Though I have no idea of the age of this knife.

Wrong image of token, and I can't delete it-sorry

Awesome finds, both metal and organic!

That's one awesome token find in your own yard! Thanks for taking care of the turtle nesting pits! Let us know when they hatch and hopefully they'll to where they are supposed to go safely.

Nice finds! Congrats! Nice wild life save too!

Very NICE!!!!

You might have to clear out some more sumac next year! Looks like you're onto something

What a wonderful garden spot. I love the finds and the life around it.

Wow, nice place to hunt! Great finds

I did a huge boo-boo as I cleared a 120' x 80' area last fall and piled most of the organics (soil) along a long strip of cleared land and right on top of another finds area that has a lot of iron and some other finds. So over time I'll move the berm to another location on the property. :)
Yes to the continued clearing of the sumacs as they lead over to a horse barn and dairy barn that were built in the 1810 or so era so it'll be another project when the time comes to excavate the foundations to see what they produce.

It's my the oldest coin off the property now and totally unexpected, then that's what makes this hobby so great.
I'm hoping the mother did her thing at least once in one of the pits she dug, it's a race against the Aholes that like turtle popping by driving over them and the racoons that eat the eggs. I can forgive the racoons as it's just a cycle of life.

Aholes for sure! Disgusting and absolutely unforgivable behavior!! Thankfully there are folks like you in the world that care!
