The veterans memorial island
at Pottsville’s Garfield Square
looked like a battlefield Wednesday.

The grass was uprooted. Boot prints and
tire tracks surrounded the canon,
which bordered a few freshly dug trenches.

Getting dirty was the first step electricians
from Barry J. Hoffman Co. Inc.,
took Wednesday during installation
of underground electric wiring at the site,
according to electrician Jason Carl, Allentown,
one of the workers on scene.

City Administrator Thomas A.
Palamar said he’s hoping more
than $48,000 worth of improvements,
including upgrading the lighting and landscaping,
will be complete by July.

“Ich bin ein Pottsviller!
Tear down this wall” in
Garfield Square to hundreds of
well-wishers before
heading over to the city pool that
bears his name for quick dip.

Do you really think so?

i guarentee aswell......i seen many many many pictures of parades going through that spot, all the kids would sit there, there used to be a fence around it, and they would sit on top, along with some adults.......it was truly a busy spot for years and years.....not to mention the carnivals down there, and all the presidents that stood in front of the diner right there to give speeches and what not......i would be HONORED to detect there

any chance they are hauling dirt away from there ?

I won't get out that way till Tuesday.

Unless you Beat me to it,
I May stop at the Historical Society
& Try and Make a Deal.

"A Nice Display for Them"
in return for "A nice Display For me"

I Know at least one of Their People
Is detector Friendly.

We talked for over an Hour about Detecting History.

& If Anyone could open doors It may be him

Welcome mechalas

Simply put it's a Small Island in the Middle of the City
With Statues, A cannon Etc.

As I think I said above (I was going to anyway)
I Don't know. it is very possable somone Asked
or helped themselves and
is / was doing it. you don't know if you don't ask.

but in a smaller way my comparasin to detecting
this site is like detecting Pennsylvania Ave in DC
fits this way also. it's a spot pottsvillians are very proud of.

a very tuff call for many to make on giving permission.
let alone believing we can get it.

but...

Nothing Ventured .....

Yep, nobody can get it all

And not just because of Swing Styles,
Expierence, etc. But because of Shear Amount
that has to be in there.

But you wouldn't need to move much to
take $30 Plus a day out of there I'd wager

& the Relics ? Jewelry ;D
Pardon me while I Drewel :tongue3:

Hey I Got permission a few years ago for
Millersburg Square which is just as Historical.

And I was Averaging $30 a day there at first
