Garnet or Quartz?

Found this on the beach of lake Michigan in Wisconsin. I'm stumped on the burgundy colored minerals, thought they were garnet initially but something doesn't seem correct other than color maybe, quartz is possible but hardness is around 5.5-6. Possibly a Alkali feldspar but never saw feldspar in this color. Any help would be great.

No UV reaction, hardness 5.5-6ish
