Pretty big coil on that Garrett compared to the stock coil on the Tesoro. Put the 12x10 DD coil on the Vaquero and try again.

The next test will be, both with the stock coil. For me tesoro is a better detector than garret...

Show the settings too. That will be helpful. Just a few seconds showing the face of the Vaquero will tell the viewer a lot about how you are running it.

I've tried an Ace 250 and a Vaquero. The Ace was a child's toy compared to the Vaquero imo.
The Vaquero is a better machine than my GTI 2500.

I have a vaquero and I can't tell what drives me crazier the shaft creaking and croaking on every swing or the same tone over and over and over.

The shaft creak is easily fixed. I too hear the same tone over and over, but I dig them and find lots of good finds.

I fixed both problems with a t2se.

I had a T2 a few years ago. It was pretty awesome. I only sold it because I was offered 4 times what I paid for it. I couldn't say no.

Tell Tesoro about it and they'll replace it for you.

I bought the t2 for a ghost town site that is blanketed with square nails the explorer was constantly nulling and the vaquero like the flat rusty stuff way to much. I'm loving the t2.

Nice! The Xterra works great in iron infested sites as long as I keep the swing speed slow. I run all metal, all tones (so I have zero nulling) and I seem to be able pick the good stuff out of the iron pretty well.
