I use Energizers with high capacity in basically everything battery powered I own, they do their job and have a much higher capacity than many other brands. Hope that helps.

I don't use rechargeable batteries in detectors. Years ago manufactures didn't recommend them. Rechargeable just stop putting out power an stop in the field.

I bought a set of RNB batteries for my AT Pro. "16 hours and 40 minutes got me down to 2 bars. We can only guess how many more hours the battery pack would work until it completely goes dead.Maybe another 10 or 15 hours? I am happy with mine.The real bonus for me will be hunting in the cold weather."

But......try using them at freezing temperatures or on cold water, and they lose capacity very quickly. Only a couple of brands out there work under those conditions, RNB batteries or other lithium type AA batteries. I normally use Enloop batteries in warmer temperatures, bet even they start to lose capacity faster about 25 charges. So, I always carry an extra set just in case. With a newly charged RNB set of batteries, I don't need to carry an extra set of batteries because the RNB Lithium batteries hold capacity much longer then the Enloops.

I guess it just depends on how much time you put on your machines, your temperatures you detect in and how much drain your machine consumes. PI detectors generally are high gain detectors and go through batteries very quickly. Alkaline batteries don't work well in extreme cold conditions, unless you support them with hot pacs. People who don't hunt very often, don't need to buy expensive batteries, however, some people hunt often, under various condition, sometimes for days at a time and having good working batteries is a real asset.

I have been using Rayovac rechargable AA's for over a year now with no issues in the freezing cold weather on my AT Gold.10+ hours per charge is what I usually get which usually is 2 or 3 hunts for me. I bought 12 AA's plus the charger for around $20 at Wal-Mart last Summer and estimate they have each been charged 15 or more times so far. I do carry 4 spares with me just in case but rarely need to change batteries in the field. I'd love to get the RNB someday but these are working for me just fine for now. HH!
