Hello everyone, I've finally upgraded my Metal Detector from the Bounty Hunter Sharp Shooter II to the Garret At Pro, After using my Bh for a while I grew out of my md so I needed a better one for my trashy area, that was the deciding factor. And I want to hunt professionally too.

Here is some pictures of the machine.

I will post some finds with it when I feel better.

Hope all you enjoy!

It's a great machine! Congrats on the upgrade!

Give yourself time to learn it and understand the tones. Hunt it pro mode and you will love the machine very soon. Good luck.

Pay attention to wrap the cord the right direction when connecting it (yes it DOES matter). Remember that those included black headphones are NOT waterproof. You're going to love that machine, give yourself at least 20-40 hours on it before you pass judgement can take some time to learn.

I recommend Pro Mode, discrim at 35 and use Iron Audio to double check a good target. Also ground balance often. SENS I typically run at two bars off of max, that seems to behave the best for most environments however you may have to tweak that. There are some real good youtube videos out there as well on this machine.

Congrats on the new heater! You're going to absolutely love it... Just be sure to take the time to really get to know how it works, and what it tells you.

Give yourself awhile before you fully understand it. If you can run full sensitivity pro mode, dig everything that sounds good and is repeatable from at least 2 different angles. Also check it with iron audible if is questionable. Welcome to the Pro life, I love mine

Thank you kindly everyone, Yep on the first day out I've found an Old Old bullet with the At Pro and I am very very happy I spent the money to get a swaaaaaeeetttt Detector.

It does not matter how you wrap the coil cable, just make sure its not loose wagging in the wind. I run mine straight up with rubber rings to hold it in place.

You will love it! Listen for the faint repeatable signals! Happy hunting

I have a question i just ordered one yesterday. And some one told me to get the 5x8 coil.Would it be worth it?

That's something that a lot of people don't think about Making sure the coil cable is not loose. It doe's not matter what detector anyone uses.
If the coil cable is loose. They will receive false signals
Congratulation, you have a great detector in the AT Pro

Alright jd! Congrats on the new toy and the 5x8 does rock! Alot will say that they never take it off once they put it on. I think it depends on where your detecting.

+1.
I run it straight up with cable ties ( Ty-raps) Just keep it tight to the rod and don't let it flop on the shaft while your swinging. Left or right wrap does not make a difference.

Here is the results of a feint whisper of a signal with the AT Pro. 8-9 inches down 1 notch down from full sensitivity.22.webp

Thank you everyone, I will put the 5x8 coil on my Christmas list.

Congratulations. The AT Pro is among my top 3 contenders for my first detector in several decades. One thing I am not clear on regarding features of the AT Pro is the Iron Discrimination function. A big deal is made of that feature in the manual. But I don't understand the benefits of it for coin and jewelry hunting. As I understand the AT, it has 12 discrimination zones plus the Iron discrimination. I don't understand the benefits of that compared to, for example, the 20 discrimination zones of the Whites MX5, which is also part of my "top 3 list." Can someone explain this feature - perhaps sell me on the benefits?

awesome find sheppie. I'm finding a lot of Indian head cents up in this part of ohio but nothing like the coins you are finding. Might have to come down your way to hit some spots if you dont mind. I don't want to step on your toes in your location but dang you have had some great finds lately.

ok here goes the iron disc function or iron audio will help you with bottle caps and old rusty nails. Most of the time I can tell a bottle cap because of the proportional audio it will go low high low over a bottle cap but sometimes if you have iron disc set high it helps to use iron audio because it will break up signal. Aluminum screw tops are going to sound good so you will dig them no way around it. But in my opinion silver coins have their own unique sound. I know if my coil is over a silver coin. The notch disc is just there If you want to notch out certain stuff like when you are cherry picking. I don't notch but it's there if I need it. I will on the other hand disc out iron to a certain level just to quiet down detector in heavy iron junk sites. Most I ever use is 29 but mostly run in low 20s. I like running in pro zero with no disc if I can because if iron masking. In my opinion the at pro is a great machine and does everything well. I don't regret getting it at all in fact I am going to add the at gold sometime soon I hope. If you plan on buying a detector give Wayne a chance at metal detecting stuff he is a supporting member of tnet and will help you decide on what you need for what you are looking for. Good luck on your choice.

You are welcome anytime. Only thing is that you have to bring your son.
