So I went out in search of fresh sites and came across what I'd like to call Theo-2. The good thing is that there seems to be plenty of coins and buttons. The bad thing is that the ground had a lot of clay and rock in it. That makes for crusty copper coins. Half of the 6 large cents were ok. Also the time frame at this site seems to be more modern than what I would prefer. However, I did find my first 1824 General Lafayette American Tour Medallion Button. It's in Alberts book page 414. Americans of the early 19th century fondly remembered Lafayette's efforts on behalf of independence during the Revolutionary War, as well as his close friendship with George Washington. As a result, the aging French celebrity's highly acclaimed 1824 visit to our shores was a tangible link to our nation's earliest days. I think it's time to find some sandy soil!

Very Cool!!! Congrats!!!

That's a really great outing getting a 6 pack of LCs.
THey're in pretty good shape actually, as the clay didn't do what it can do.
The button is certainly top shelf material and stood the test of time in the clay soils.
Sandy/loamy/well drained soils is a dream in some of our detecting locals.
Clay certainly has its destructive nature to the finds many times.

Very Nice Saves. The button is a Keeper! Well Done!

WOW! What a great hunt!
