Geogia Gold?

I Was wondering if there are any public places to pan or highbank in dahlonega. I was reading about the loud mine but I couldnt find an address or ph#. If anyone could help it would be greatly apreciated. Thanks....

I know its to late to post but there are 2 bridges in gahlonega which have been the only place i`ve found flakes.

Nuggets can be found at the 2 pay at the door for a bucket of sand sites in town.

I`ve found several locals that have found nice nuggets in streams of the mountains that feed these 2 rivers.

Check out the entire eastern slate belt for chances of gold and many minerals.

The Loud mine is a LDMA property. You won't find a number on it. It is just up the road from the Gold and Gem Grubbin' mine (pay to dig and actually a better site). I think the town is Helen, Ga. GPAA did have a 3 day introductory special for members to check out an LDMA site. As for highbanking there it was good, but the weather didn't cooperate much. I didn't have a dredge at the time. As for the pay sites in Dahlonega, IMHO Crisson's is the better one all though the tour at the Consolidated mine is interesting.
GPAA has the Buchannon claim. It's a nice area with good color. The caretaker will steer you to some good spots to dig.
The Georgia prospectors Assn (http://www.nuggethunters.org/) and the Weekend Gold miners club (http://www.weekendgoldminers.com/) also have some reputable claims in GA. Though I haven't vivited them.

The The Georgia prospectors Assn (http://www.nuggethunters.org/) have some good gold claims but the leader isn't to ripe. I was a member for a couple of years even throug I live in Md and things got a little to wierd for me and my family so we got out and joined the GPAA. They talked a lot of crap about the GPAA and I haven't seen any of it to be true. You should try to contact some GPAA members from the Mag or claim book, they'll point you to the right direction.
