I was civil relic hunting the other day & did pretty good. I was digging button signals hoping for a Confederate button or something. To dig buttons I have to dig lots of junk. I dug one target & thought nothing of it. It looked like a part of a pewter spoon. I got home & cleaned my finds & saw a figure on it. I viewed it in silhouette & saw what looked like R.E Lee or George Washington. I thought it was a trinket from Gettysburg or some junk. So I posted it on a civil war I.D group. They told me it is a I.D disk from the civil war. It's a union item. I found it in a Confederate spot. It must've been lost by a union prisoner or taken from one as a souvenir. It came out of the same location as the relics pictured.
