Hi all, it's been awhile since I last posted. My friend and
I went down to Georgia. We were east of Atlanta. We wanted to do some
civil war hunting, but just didn't have the time. We did find over a dozen
arrowheads and a bunch of bullets and heal and toe plates.
The bullets were old but not civil war type. DARN IT!

This past week I found four Indian head pennies( 1881,1888,1891, & 1903),
two mercury dimes (1940 & 1942 D, and a buffalo nickel, no date. I also
found an old bracelet. Looks like it's from the 1920's.

I am sending along pictures of the arrowheads, (quartz type) and some of the
coins I found this week.

Congrats on the nice finds and silver! HH, Mike

Really nice finds! Keep it swingin'!

Thanks for all your replies, someday I'll actually get to hunt a civil war site.
It would be great to find a belt buckle or some other great find.

Over the years here in Ohio I have found 3 Civil War Reunion badges, and
over 2 dozen 3 ringers. The 3 ringers were in a hill side firing range from the
civil war. I also have a Massachusetts button, with the gold still on it and of
course many civil war tokens.

next time your in my area(Decatur GA) give me a call mike 404 371/0671 i live right on the battle of Atlanta site of course its not the same as June 1964

Thanks Again for all the replies, I just talked to Knapper of
Atlanta Ga. , sure wish I would have know about him when
I was in Ga. the first of the month.

Well the farmers are really taking off the beans up here in
Ohio now so can't wait to get back into my old sites and
get some more goodies to post. I also look for arrowheads,
and Indian hammers while detecting. Some of my best
Indian relics come from detecting old sites in the middle of
a field.

Nice finds. :) I love IH's. Especially when they look like yours or better. ;D

Only tried a "farm" field once. Didn't find anything. Might not have given it enough time. Sounds like you do pretty good in them.

Thanks Mirage, yes detecting in fields is the best place to find
the old stuff. I'm not saying there isn't old stuff in towns, but
after you get permission to hunt in a field, there is no one to
bother you while your hunting. Sort of like the calm when your
golfing. I'm not a golfer but have been on a few golf courses with
friends.

Most of my great finds have come from field finds, locations that
once had an old school house or farm house on it or maybe even a
battle site or fort site. All kinds of possibilities in a farm field.

The only problem is that fields are disappearing fast, with all the
new housing going up in the country side.

Well Happy Hunting, Ringfinder
