I believe this Silver thimble is German. Does anyone know what it says and how old it is?

American Sterling Silver Turn of the Century thimble (issued in 1906) made by the Simons Bros. Co features a rim that says "A Stitch in Time Saves Nine"

Marked in the apex STERLING, 10, and the trade mark S within a shield for Simons Bros. STERLING
