Hello
It has been awhile since I posted. Have been training for my upcoming Baghdad vacation. The finds are from 5 different hunts. I'm starting to throw away all the cartridge cases I find, so I will not show them much. The weather here in Germany has been odd and cold, lots of sleet.

All finds are on US bases using a XLT. The local parade field is still giving up finds, but all the targets are deep. I got some good finds, here we go.

German SS hat skull (I was throwing it in the thrash and I looked again)
Polish Army button (Historian said that Polish Army camped at the base after the war)
1780 Heller coin (great shape, very thin)
Old copper style ring
1938 Nazi coin (bronze??)
Wheat Pennies
Lead seal and more buttons(German Uniform)
Old Horse stirrup
196X rabies vaccination tag (issued by the 72nd Vet Det in Nurenber)

That's it for now, have a nice day.
HH

March Finds 1.webp
The whole collection, right side has the heavily rusted horse stirrup and a US mess kit knife. Found many calibers of live ammo (lower left). Good clad finds also.

March Finds 2.webp
LEFT-RIGHT Some unit seal, has two dates 1866 and 1927, Early style SS hat skull, lead seal, buttons, LOWER Nazi coins and a 1927 coin.

March Finds 3.webp
Same as above, lower shows the back of the 1780 Heller coin

March Finds 4.webp
One more view, shows other side of Heller coin(bottom) and the ring (on bullet)

VERY Nice Finds! I'm a WWII collector, and would love to hunt in Europe! Love the finds and all of your posts! :)

With all the aerial combat that happened I would imagine .50cal bullets are very common.
They all had to end up somewhere.

Awesome finds!

Outstanding bunch of digs! I always wanted to find an SS badge while I was there but never did.

Thanks all
I do find 50 cal rounds in the most unusual places, I guess air combat explains the source.
Thanks

Congrats on another nice hunt 88. You and Mike are going head to head on finding those 1700's coins. He said the two of you were going to try to hunt together the other day but the weather turned sour. Get you two in the same field and no telling what your gona dig up next. I hope you know now that it always pays to take a second look at all your finds before tossing them in the trash! When are you going to the Big Sand Box? I wish you good luck and stay safe.

Great digs! - one whole lot of history at that site.

Nice finds. That Skull and Crossbones I think were from Nazi death camps. I would love to go back to Germany and M/D at my old base (Rhein Main), they have a back gate there that has alot of history in those woods.

The Totenkopf (Death's Head) insignia was used by actual fighting SS Units also, most notably SS Panzer, Panzergrenadier, and Panzerinfanterie Units. These guys were the elite forces and the cream of the crop who you DID NOT want to go up against. They believed in their country and in the ideaology of their party and were out there fighting and dying for it. Just because they were on the losing side, they were no less courageous or honorable than the winners were...but the winners are the ones who get to write the history.

Unfortunately, The inhuman turds in the camps also wore the SS insignia and there were also idiots who were good bootlickers to the NationalSozialisteDeutscheArbeitspartei who were given "honorary" commissions in the SS. The SS-Sicherheitsdienst (SS Secret Police) also wore the Death's Head.

These 3 SS entities gave a bad name and attached a bad stigma to those SS Troops who were out there taking the fight to their enemies on the battlefield like they were supposed to, resulting in an automatic association of the SS as a whole to the inhuman acts comitted in the camps and committed by the SS-SD.

Cool finds!!!.......I'll be leaving Iraq in a few weeks and should be back swinging a coil in Michigan NLT 01MAY08

Thanks for the info. I worked with some old Gestapo Agents at Rhein Main, there were some of the best investigators we had, and got to know about the difference between fighting for country and the "bootlickers" you are talking about.
Again thanks for your service

Great finds Iroc! The 1780 would probably be a copper, and in awesome condition, cold it be silver? I do not know but think it should be a copper. You made some nice finds, hopefully we can get together in a few weeks. HH, Mike

Very cool bunch of finds you have there ... congratz on a great hunt and thanks for the nice photos ~ Jimmy

Thanks for all the replies

VIKING: I will get a picture of the pack, once I clean it, my base was a panzer unit bases

BAVARIAMIKE: The 1780 is most likely copper, those coins are so thin, I suprised the detector finds them.

Great Finds! I had an old buddy who's dad gave him the SS collar insignia and Swastika two piece buckle that I assume that he confiscated during his stint in the war. They were very impressive as is these coins and the "Deaths Head" insignia. Again, awesome finds

Very cool finds and a nice history lesson in all the posts. Gotta love this hobby. The more you find the more you research the more you learn :)

Nice batch of finds man.

Congrats,

HH Jer
