Hi,
I finally got the Garrett At Pro ordered and should be able to do a little hunting of what's left of the vacation. It was fun going out shopping for all those little extras one has to have today. Since I don't yet have a decent camera to do shots of the daily takes, I might have to wait till I get back home to post finds. I plan on separating finds into zip lock bags, dated, and location, for a journal I'm going to start.

Say hey, if you see me on the beach anywhere in Fl.....I'll be flitting around.

Angel,
Glad to hear you got a machine I've heard good things about the AT PRO would like to get one my self since the Excal can get heavy after a while but don't see it in the cards yet.

It's free ware for metal detecting it keeps track of your clad and gives you a total
you can fill in you finds like silver coins and rings also gold jewelry and all other finds.
where you found it the depth you name it I like it because you can also upload pics of your finds for that site. Can't wait to see your finds I have a feeling that you will be an addict LOL.
Hope this helps

Welcome to a hobby that is always an adventure. Using small zip lock baggies are good way of keeping your discoveries. Something to store them in would also make it easier. I use an old fishing tackle box to hold many of my discoveries, especially things like hot wheels cars fishing weights, miscellaneous items, broken pieces of jewelry, toys. It has many compartments that help seperate items. Welcome again and looking forward to seeing you on the beach!

Speaking of fishing weights..........what does everybody actually .....do......with them?

I'm only going to bag things till I can get home to clean everything up properly....then will have to figure out the permanent way to keep things.

I save them up and then take a load to a local scrap metal dealer for "petty cash"...pays for gas to get back and forth to the beach to find more sinkers and lures :laughing7:

Duh me about the sinkers........never even thought about scrap metal.

About those sinkers, Divers always need more weights so some dive shops will buy them too.

I used to put string tags on the rings with the date found, where, etc but even that cut into nap time between hunts.

You will enjoy the detecting and hopefully soon you will find some real nice gold, silver and other interesting items. Congratulations and welcome to a great hobby.
