Ghost towns

I have a great index book on Ghost town locations in the west. I would love to hear from anyone with tips about detecting in these locations. Some of the towns are still active today with a minimal population. Others are abandoned, but have existing structures, and a number are bare of any structures. Would it still be worthwhile to search these locations since many of the towns supported nearby mining operations?

Well my true name is Wander so yes, go there and swing a coil. You will find awesome stuff I promise you. Dogged persistence and infinite patience maybe required. Square nails and spencer cartridges may abound but these things tell a tale too. Metal detecting in the desert is a blast. I heavily recommend it and think you should explore your world!
