Interesting post.
I'm familliar with a mine called the Helen Rae Gold Mine in New Mexico (Nogal district), but I never heard of the Reine Ray Gold mine in Mexico.
I wonder..........New Mexico didn't become a US state until 1912, it was still in the country of Mexico when your article was published.
So your post showing Mexico might actually be referring today to the Helen Gold Mine in NEW Mexico.

New Mexico has been part of the USA since between the end of the Mexican War in 1848 to the 1853 Gadsden Purchase, when the southern most chunk of New Mexico was acquired.

I agree ! I couldn't find Heine Rae online.

they may have spelled the Helen Rae Mine Wrong.
If I'm not Mistaken though I believe I read the Helen Rae was a Copper mine.

It could also be possible if these were Copper Nuggets, Instead of Gold,
it would Explain their inability to Dislodge them so easily.

the again. maybe I read wrong.
I can't find the Link from Earlier that said "Copper mine"
