Pictured are two of three of these gizmos. Profile and bottom view. They are copper with a nickel finish. Almost 7/8th" wide and high. Non-threaded hole in the ball and a threaded hole in the base. Kind of like a guide that screws on. These were found at a mid 1800's site. What do you think?

IF the hole on flat end is threaded... it may be a "towel bar" type dealio... which these were also used as a "finial" type bar system on top of things.

I've seen these supporting curtain rods. Not saying this would be their only use.

I could see those holding the top of a lantern on and the carry ring going through the top.

Maybe and I repeat just a maybe part of the hinged piece for a toilet seat?

I think it's a base for a drawer pull ring. Such as this. pull.webp
