✅ SOLVED Glass lid of some sort ????

Have no idea what it was for but has embossed very faintly what I believe is OLUME PATENTED DEC 28th 1898. The last letter E may be a B or an H, it is so hard to see. You have to tilt it just right while mars and jupiter are all in line..you know how that goes. I have found insulators that were embossed like that, very difficult to get the right angle.
There are no threads on it male or female. There are "stops" on what I call the bottom side where it is kept from spinning.

That was a possibility that I had as well but the two "stops" on the underside of it would not help with fastening or sealing, and usually there would be a bale seal indentation on the lid if a bale was to close on it. The pic showed by Matt has closure fittings that come together from the lid and ontop the container...so I really am not so sure of it..but that might be the closest I can get to an ID.
