If you can operate a spreadsheet program (such as Microsoft Excel), you can keep track of all the info you need for free. I have a very simple Excel workbook I put together to keep track of what I spend and what I sell.

I use excel and have tabs for sales, inventory, returns, damages, expenses, mileage, etc that all feed a main tab that I;ll use for tax purposes. Pretty easy to set up, providing you know basic excel. If not, then I would imagine itbeing a bigger task.

Ok, looking for an easy way to keep things organized for taxes. Anyone using this? Any other suggestions? I would like to get into eBay much heavier than I am currently.

I have been using it for 2 years. Keeps track of every expense, fee, and shipping cost. If you use a Paypal debit card to purchase product it will list those items too. Of course you cash guys just have to enter manually what you spend for "cost of goods". As the year progresses it will give you an idea about taxes you could owe if (YOU FALL INTO THE 1099) with 200 sales + $20,000.00. At the end of the year it will upon your request print out a Schedule C that you need for you tax return. Here is a small example

$2,562.74
eBay Fees
$125.73
Invoice Expense
$1,000.33
Other Expenses
$1,097.45
PayPal Fees
$9,033.13
Shipping Costs
$13,819.38

Thanks for the replies! I have never used a spreadsheet program so I will check to see if I have excell loaded already in my laptop. If not it sounds like the godaddy is a great option.

I use the Godaddy program. I like it because it makes things simple. All my sales, fees, paypal fees are automatically loaded. I sell online as my full time job and this helps to cut down on my time spent manually entering all these items.

I think I'm going to go with the godaddy program. I'm so new to this bookkeeping stuff that I'm going to be researching some more first. Do I need a tax number? Self employment tax is the same as quarterlies and same as social security tax? Please excuse my ignorance lol
