Wish I was local, I read the page on Centrailia from the airplane post, what a fantastic place and wonderful story.

Is that the place that has had fires under it in the mines? I think I saw a show about that place. They burned trash at a dump and it somehow got down into the coal mine and has been burning since.

Yea that's the place Dudes. & the Cause.

It actually Caught the Coal Vein on Fire & every Spot where the Vein Reaches the Surface, it Burns to & the Air Feeds it

That's crazy! I don't remember the amount of time it's been burning but it seemed like it was something crazy like 20 or more years?? Seems like the show said there were only a few families still living there.

I'm not real shure of the Time Frame, I think posably 50 years or so. I'd have to Re-Look.
