rjnail....I don't know much about N.Myrtle Beach but if you are in for a little ride to the south...a pretty good spot to check is around SpringMaid Pier...I was there last month and some other guys were finding rings galore near there..It was just a bit farther than I wanted to walk.. I was talking with one and he got a hit and dug a gold wedding band right in front of me...darn..I was about 2 mins too slow but was heading in that direction..lol Have fun and good luck. BTW..that pier is located near the old Air Force Base..

I was down the Myrtle Beach area (Surfside) this week. I hunted near the pier at the Days Inn on the beach. It was my first time out with an Excalibur. Three hours of hunting produced approximately 30 coins, an 18k gold ring with diamond chips, 10k gold 20" rope and a silver chain with pendant. I only pulled a few pieces of junk as I was working at the waterline. By the condition of the coins this beach is probably not hunted as often as most. I only saw one dry sand hunter during this time. You must hit it during low tide as the beach disappears at high tide. Good Luck.

Ripp nice work. Shhhh. Don't tell every one about the surf side it does not get hunted to much. Guess it is too late you already did. :'(

Riverdog, If you live in Virginia how are going to go north to Myrtle Beach? Also, I you using a water machine, get in the water if possible. Less trash there.

Riverdog,

When I stayed at N. Myrtle Beach in April, I stayed up by the OD Pavilion. If you are staying on the beach, watch where they set up the beach chairs and tents....which is usually right behind the line where the Lifeguard stands are. Mentally mark that area. Around 5-6 p.m after they have taken the beach chairs away, get out there and start hunting immediately.....keeping in mind that mental line I mentioned. Hit the low tide. And early in the morning.........and I mean REAL early....get out there, going back over that mental line I mentioned. Don't forget to check the areas where the people walk from the beach to the street areas, and towards City Park.

Also, take a good long sand scoop. A short one will do; however, you can take care of more area by hitting it with a long sand scoop.

Good luck. Find all of those rings that I missed. By the way, since alcohol is not allowed on the beach....you won't find any pull tabs or bottle caps. 'Cause you know EVERYBODY obeys the laws.....righhhhhhhttttt?
:-X :-X :-X :-X ::) ::) ::)

If you believe that one......LOL

SC_HUNTER... I will try and find the place on my way back home, tnks.

Hey Mel,

Thanks for the tips, I'll be hitting that chair line. Getting up early is no problem, Im ussually up with the sun. I need to find a good scoop, I do think a good one would make it more enjoyable.

Riverdog,

I was always out there at 6 a.m..............whoops.........by that time I would meet several other MDers who had already been out there a couple of hours already. Made me feel foolish. And several of the beach people would already be setting up their tents. I kept thinking that "doesn't anybody sleep around here"??? LOL

Good luck. There are others here on TNET that live around there. I think xXx is a police officer there. And, SC_Hunter can also give you some good hints.

Not sure where in VA you live, but if you are close to Manassas, I can tell you where you can get a great long handled sand scoop in Manassas.
HH,
Mel
