Hey all!
Western Washington State enthusiast here.
I’m looking at picking up a Gold Kruzer cuz we got REALLY TINY Gold in this 1/2 of the state...REAL TINY.
Now....I’ve watched every video on YouTube (that I can find) that even mentions the Gold Kruzer so I’m confident it will detect the gold we have here. But when I’m NOT out on the rivers looking for gold I may want to take it coin-shooting (although I have other machines too). However...I live on an island and the saltwater beaches (what few decent ones we have) are rarely detected...everybody hits the parks and schools hard but I’ve never seen anyone detecting the beaches. I’m extremely curious how this Gold Kruzer will perform on saltwater sand or even in the shallow waters.
Anybody have any saltwater experiences with this machine that they’d like to share?

Thanks and happy detecting 2021!!!

I have some field experience with the Gold Kruzer. I haven’t found gold bc there just isn’t any where I live. Its VERY hot on coins up to 8 inches. Its very sensitive In mineralized soil and trashy areas.

The Makro jewelry mode is very precise. I found a silver standing Liberty quarter next to a cheap ring, surrounded by pull tabs, in dry/packed emi producing soil.

Just be patient with it and learn it’s tones, its worth your time.

been watching for a used GM 1000 and someone listed a Nokta Gold Kruzer, seems like a good machine then i see the Nokta Gold Finder 2000. i know basically nothing about metal detectors. the Noktas just look cheap/old in comparison to the Minelab GM 1000. I'am leaning toward the Kruzer mainly because of the price, its waterproof (unlike the GF2000) and you see people using them at salt water beaches on youtube but i really dont like lipo batteries. anyone heard of any Noktas with lipo batteries going up in flames?

The main problem people have with Lipo batteries is they leave them on charge and walk away causing the batteries to over charge. Every instance I have seen with lipos catching fire has been while charging. Also Lipos should never be stored fully charged and you should never completely drain a lipo battery. I try to leave at least 20% charge when I store my lipos.

Well REALLY TINY doesn’t really sound like a good application for a detector. Think #4 shot being at the very bottom of detectable gold.

i picked up a Kruzer because of how tiny it can find. it may not seem like a good application for a detector for someone that just goes out and detects for nuggets, im not a nugget hunter, its just an additional tool to use while prospecting new ground to give me information.
i still think it looks cheap and old but if it works as well for me as it does this fellow ill be happy

I thought the Makro is cheaply made. I have the Gold Racer. It will pick up little gold like that when it’s in high sensitivity mode and the ground is right. Of course it needs to be on the surface. Nokota looked better made, but I’m sure it’s similar quality.

Why do you say the Makro is cheaply made? They aren't what I would call a high end detector, but they are a great mid range detector.

Makro Good Racer. The first unit did not work when you hooked headphones up. Otherwise it was ok. It was cheaper for them to just send out another unit rather than fix the new one. They were not interested in even having the original sent back to diagnose the manufacturing defect. The battery cover seems suitable to a cheap radio shack unit, the shaft connections are loose, the plastic bolt and nut that hold the coil broke early. It’s not anywhere near water resistant to rain, the speaker is open and faced to the back of the unit, where it gets set on the ground all the time. The knobs are sticking out the end of the unit where they get bashed in the truck. Just not impressed. It cost me around $900 (much more expensive than a Bounty hunter or other “cheap” detector). I have to be really careful transporting it and using it in the field. The “trigger” also hangs down ready to get broken during transport. Maybe those are all design flaws? Just seems like cheap overseas manufacturing. I still use it.

WOW, I didn't realize all this, I saw quite a few using them and never seemed to have issues. I recently bought a Nokta Simplex Ultra and although it's not a $1000.00 machine, I seems to be quality made. I know the old Simplexes were pretty highly thought of for a lower price point detector. Unfortunately there are fewer and fewer detectors being made in the U.S. Hell I didn't realize Whites went out of business until a few months ago.

I actually got quite a bit more for my buck with the Simplex Ultra than I anticipating for a $300.00 detector. Most of which I probably won't use.

That’s just my take of things I didn’t like. There are some things I do like about it as well. It does work decent for a gold focused machine with discrimination. I’m sure they have moved on to better designs. I’d be more than willing to try out a new model and provide reviews if I was handed one. However I’ll likely be going with a Minelab VLF on the next one.

i asked about settings questions on 2 different youtube channels and they both came back with pretty much the same settings
small coil
general mode
gain 95
threshold 09
isat 04
tracking 01
my Kruzer freaks out at 95 gain and need to back it off to 80 to get a nice threshold
tried it twice so i run at 80
does anyone elses Kruzer freak out at 95 also???

Makro Gold Racer needs to be operated at 70-80. You will find that it gets noisy higher than that.

Ive had both the gold racer and gold kruzer. the gold kruzer is waterproof and made better and quite frankly WAY better than a monster 1000. (i know some will disagree about the monster but with my first hand experience i can tell you the monster is nowhere near the gold kruzer in performance or quality.) the gold kruzer is not bump sensitive at all. where as a thick blade of grass will set off the monster. handles hot ground 1000 times better and it hits just as hard on tiny gold if not better. oh yeah and its half the price. ive found at least 1000 pieces of gold with it from fly poop up to 20 gram nuggets. Mine is a few years old and all scratched and scuffed up, dirty and been dropped plenty of times in the goldfields. still works perfectly. im not brand biased at all. I have a couple minelabs that i like a lot and a Garret axiom is my newest toy. I have not tried it a saltwater beach so i cant say anything about that but as far as prospecting for tiny gold you cant go wrong with it. it is not a gold racer...totally different machine

i was more curious about why my Kruzer doesnt behave the same as other Kruzers with the gain at 95
and now to hear it behaves as a Racer that is stable at gain 80.
can anyone with a Kruzer tell me if their Kruzer is stable at 95 or if they have to be at 80?

it depends on the soil. i run mine anywhere between 75 to 95 depending on location. Also try adjusting isat. it is another filter that you can play with. ideal is no isat but i usually have to use it in hot gound. 2 or 3 i think is where that usually is. you can play with different combinations of gain and isat. in the harshest ground id have the gain at lower than 80 if I have to. and isat up some if you need to. i also adjust the threshold as low as i can, until i can barely hear it. and volume all the way up. remember low and slow is the way to go for nugget hunting

Really? Because the interface and settings appear to be very very similar. Also it was the same company. GR was cheaply made in my opinion.

they have similar interface and setting and they are the same company. there are some big differences. gold racer is 56 khz, gold kruzer is 61 khz.(different engine) gold kruzer is built fully waterproof where as the gold racer is not.(kruzer is better build quality) gold racer had the headphone jack and battery under the armcuff. ( headphone jack was the only thing that failed on my gold racer), gold kruzer has all the electronics in the waterproof head unit and nothing under the armcuff. the coils are different and not interchangable. so yeah the screen is similar but thats about it. just because you have to run the gain lower in high mineralized ground does not mean your detector is inferior to some other guys detector in a different location. that goes every detector ever made. soil means everything when it comes to adjusting settings and filters on a metal detector.

totally different.....
