Since everyone was so great with my masonic shekel, I thought I would ask about something else I simply can't find anything about. I have had this 1927 penny that was always yellow in color. I found it in an old house where the window frame came off and it fell out and was in very good shape. Not even dirty really. Any case, this penny has always looked yellow and not copper like others. I included a couple of pictures but they don't do the shininess of the penny any justice whatsoever or the correct color either. It's not a coating, this I'm sure of and did have a local collector look at it briefly but he had no idea. It has a slightly higher "ping" noise than other pennies when clanked and doesn't seem to tarnish so easily. That's about all the info I have.
EDIT: I have found information that it could be a chemical reaction, plating or something on that order. However, I very carefully took it down a bit on the side where there is a nick or two and even though a decent nick, still as yellow as the rest of the penny. I believe it's yellow all the way through.
