I saw a series of posts about gold prospecting in Florida and common answers is use a metal detector and look for treasure a rings on the beach.
The geological reality is that there are no known occurrences of natural gold within the state of Florida, but there are some spots worth knowing about:
Inland panning locations, recreational only (trace amounts only):
  • Gold Head Branch State Park near Keystone Heights is one popular spot,
  • Tiger Bay State Forest near Daytona Beach has a history of producing placer and lode deposits.
  • Withlacoochee State Forest in west-central Florida, is considered a promising spot — gold reportedly found in its sandy hills and river floodplains and historical sediment layers.
  • Ocala National Forest in central Florida also has numerous waterways that may contain small amounts of gold.
