Hi Gang,
It has been raining here in Ohio all week so Jeff and I try to get out between the rain drops. We went back to the big field behind Antioch College (it has been closed for years but we got permission to hunt). Jeff was not enthusiastic as we have hit it alot. But with all the rain I thought something might show that we missed before.
I searched for an hour and got a 189_ something V nickel which I dropped somewhere...dang! Jeff said the same thing happened to the last guy that had it...lol
I got a soft hit that was a 14-16 jumping to 20 VDI if I swung rapidly over the spot. The detector said it was down 5" so I decided to dig. Less than 3" it was probably junk and I had already had enough of that today. I cut a "U" shape with my shovel and popped the plug back on itself with grass still attached. The ground was really soft almost muddy in some areas. I was digging fast as the bugs in the wet grass were starting to get to me.
I dug deeper and then used my Bullseye-II pinpointer and got a hit. When I turned the clod I saw---GOLD!
I didn't have my camera with me so I took the clod and the ring back to be photo'd at home. Jeff was having a fit not being able to look at it so I gave in and we cleaned it on the spot.
Does anyone know what this ring is? It has a mask, an eye, a quill and key, on the logo and a medial snake.
Thanks to Poker Jim who nailed it: a Kappa Psi Fraternity Pharmacutical Ring!
