Hi everyone,

Oddly, while searching for Native American artifacts, I found a gold ring in the creek! You never know what the creek is going to bring in!

Is there any way to know it’s age? It was located at a Native American campsite area, where William Penn would often be seen. The initials are most likely a coincidence, but I just wanted to give some background on where it was found. Any ideas on its age just from what I’m able to show?

Thanks!
BrettCo

Given the style, I’d say that it’s pretty darn old. Very nice find.

Do not believe they were marking the KT weight of gold like that until around the turn on the 20th century, so I'd say very late 1800's and on would be your timeline.

Nice looking chunk of gold, congrats!

Thanks so much! Can you tell me anything about the style? I’m very new to figuring out ages of things.

Thanks very much!! Really excited about it. I’ve found a lot of things from these hobbies ( metal detecting, Arrowheads, bottles, etc) but I’ve never found gold before. Really excited!

Nice looking ring, congratulations on your 1st gold find & save

Nice cold ring. Good job.

Excellent recovery! I could not pin down the age of your ring, but I do agree that yes, it is very old. Those initials do warrant further research...I'll keep my eyes peeled to see if you or anyone else has put a proper ID on it. Again, congrats on that ring...it's more than just a gold ring...I feel there's a story behind that unit...Ddf.

Thanks so much! I’m going to be trying my hardest to get a good ID on it, because I agree, I believe it has an interesting history. I need to figure it out!

Congrats on your first gold ring. I love these hobbies of ours that hone our observation skills.
