I was going to post these pics in the..."if you could" thread but I don't want to thread jack.Rhis weekend in Coloma was Gold Rush live.Sort of a reenactment. There are numerous vendors selling goods for the reenact or and a lot of cool displays attempting to show what you may have seen in a camp around the time....The canvas would have been a little dirtier

To me one of the coolest things is hearing the old sailors songs played on simple instruments..lots of stomping...many of these songs aren't recorded they are on shhet music and passed down...lots of old Irish tunes....unfortunately one day people won't hear this music anymore.

Kellycrooks nailed me twice. It will never happen again, besides Tom @ Metal Detectors of Minneapolis will beat there price and take care of you in the process. Once a year in October for this one...it's the biggest..They do a Christmas in Coloma it's neat for the kids....and something in January..for the discovery anniversary. .the winter ones get way less people both reenact or and visitors...December and January can turn some people away
