I went back to the old grass area near the old swimming pool I hunted at last Saturday.
One of my first targets was a zinc penny/ square pulltab reading on the meter. To my surprise out pops a 18K gold ring! Also dug a silver dime today. I hunted the whole area today for 4 hours. Only ten coins were found, but it was an awesome day!

18k surprised it rang so high on VDI, nice score!

Great work. Does you machine give a numeric number for the gold ring?

I had a big men's 24K wedding band ID as a half dollar once. The bigger the ring the greater the conductivity.

I have to admit I had it backwards in my mind, thought the purer the gold would have less copper mixed in so would ring lower but I guess the ring shape usually fools most machines into a hitone anyway (I just about always hunt in 2 tone so prolly skews my opinion incorrectly)

Nice gold recovery! Probably someone took off their ring before swimming, to keep it safe and forgot about it. Probably slid off a towel or out of a shoe or something. 😀👍

It's an old Fisher CZ-6 with an analog meter. The needle just points to a certain category. I purched this machine back in 1995 and its still going strong
. I've found gold rings on this machine reading as foil, round pulltab, square pulltab, nickel, zinc penny, and half dollar. You just never no when one will come up with all the possibilities.

That massive men's 24K wedding band i dug a few years ago weighed in at 25 grams. It was a high tone target, I later checked the ID with a digital VDI machine. That's where I got the half dollar meter reading.

got a solid 51 on the Nokta Anfibio with a 7g 14k wedding band and a solid 35 with a 22k ladies pinky ring (x2) both like 2g each on a 100 scale VDI, lady Nokta is a fickle one!
