Got out yesterday after the rain. Hunters are in the woods and all the permissions ive been hammering for the last year are pretty dried up so we went looking for permissions. Got one at an old restaurant and got to it. Found the two large cents about a foot away from each other. One is a rare mint error which is cool. My friend who got the permission also got a large cent. Ive been finding a good amount of old coppers in old places but its really few and far between that a silver pops out. Ive been fiending for a colonial silver coin and i always wonder how come theres a plethora of large cents and indian head pennies but the silver and gold coins are always elusive. Is it because detectorists back in the 70s already sped through, digging up all the high tones and then left, or were these people just poor and silver and gold currency was rare around here back then?
Anyway, enjoy the coppers and barber dime. Also a handful of the usual suspects. Thanks for looking! Going to try to find that colonial silver and gold today. I know its out there somewhere.
