Gold Sovereign

I know I haven't posted in ages.... sorry. Found this in the Mediterranean. Wind was howling yesterday... but was stupid enough to get into the water. The beaches are almost deserted this time of the year no other hunters around.
My first minelab was an original sovereign... so happy to eventually find a coin it was named after. It is a pity it has been mounted, would have been worth more just as a coin.
I am on the road so do not have my scale... the coin alone is 8 grams, about 15? total.

Cool find.

That ring "bezel" is cool... first time I have seen that style.

After a vinegar clean... The coin is held in with the bezel and 4 clasps of which one is broken.
should be able to remove the coin without damaging it.

What karat is the ring itself ?

MArked ?... looks like 10.

The hallmark is very small...I do not have a loop with me.Judging by colour I think 9K they do not use 10k in the UK.

I put it on my wedding finger...It was not very comfortable and edges are quite sharp.

What a wonderful find! Sovereigns are only worth their weight in gold and have no collector value (even 19th century ones) so you came out ahead with the coin on the rose gold ring, Nice combo. I would count the find as 2 gold pieces, just saying...
