Anyone have one? are there any tips to using it?

I need to verify some old rings that have the marking worn away.
The last ring I found is marked 14K, but I don't really trust the K mark because of what looks like silver streaks on it.

Just send them all up to me Ralph. I'll look thru them, throw out the junk and send back the good ones tagged with their specs, scouts honor I promise

Granitegator, I have the needles. After testing a few pieces, I see the need for them.
