Detector(s) used
....Tesoro conquistador , minelab sovereign
I am pretty new here but do not see much about the Golden U Max not a good detector no one has one ? And on the Cibola it hunts in Disc. only no all metal on it? after reading the reviews on google the cibola sounds like a better detector?????

A buddy of mine had a golden umax for a short time, but didn't like it.
Some complain that the tones are very close together and that it is hard to distinguish the middle two.
I think they have 4 tones and maybe a couple of other variences of these tones.
I have seen many post on other forums and they are well liked by many users.
The tone issue is the only complaint I have seen so far.
The Cibola is a very good detector and to access the all metal mode, you have to press and hold down the pinpoint button.
The disc control does not switch over to all metal like the Vaquero.
Hope this helps clear up some of your questions.

i rum my cibola on level 1 discrimination i have found 22k gold ring and a 12k gold small bracelet. i never use the red button..i was at first totaly frustrated with my cibola but after 4 months of useing it i wont trade it and im actually glad i didnt get the golden umax or the silver umax

I was thinking about the Cibola i read the reviews myself on the Cibola and they were all good . The Golden U Max did not have much good said about it. There were a few detector snobs on the reviews that called the Cibola a starter detector or a beginner detector i guess for the price was to low for them fell sorry for those kind of people every thing has to be top dollar or it is no good . And a low price detector will find the same thing a $1000.00 or $1500.00 detector will.......But not in there mind................==Jim_K==

i have hunted with people with whites dfx or the spectrum and the prism 4... i blew away the prism 4 with my cibola.. and the others i found stuff they missed, it might be because the way i use my machine but it showed me that the cibola can keep up with more expensive machine. it took me 4 months before i bought a detector because of my homework on all machines. i was actually gun hoe on the garrets and i am glad i researched them other wise i be a peed off on the ace 250..i wanted the gt2500 but after reading post here i slowed down and decided i better buy a cheaper one and learn what i am doing... I'm happy i got the cibola and because of the way tesoro made it easier to run them, i bought the tiger shark... how can whites sell a mxt or any other expensive machine only to find that you have to buy a differed book to use different programs how retarded. i hate when company's sell a expensive item and then learn you have to buy a disk or a book to run different programs... so for tesoro to use such a simple design i wont ever buy a diffrent brand but i do need a deep box detector so i hope tesoro start working on it... Oh when i called the company last summer i asked how deep a cibola could go the guy told me with the right soil i could find a quarter at 16 inches.. how cool is that but only when its in super mode...

Yes, if you "supertune" your Cibola you can expect to dig deep. I've never found a coin real deep but did find a ball of copper wire after digging almost 2 feet!!!!! I was impressed and dissappointed!!!!! But really, the Cibola is a great machine, I put the 5.75DD coil on and it never comes off. I use my cibola along with a Whites M6 and it keeps right up, anytime the Whites gets a signal so does the Cibola. The Whites just tells you what it thinks it found, whereas the tesoro you have to just dig it.

I don't think Tesoro makes any "bad" detectors. Tesoro makes a wide variety of detectors for different uses and different tastes.

I've never used a Golden but it's probably a fine machine.

I do own a Cibola and it's great. If you like digging iron artifacts then the Cibola might not be a good detector for you though.

I like hunting in discriminate mode because I want to dig nonferrous targets. The momentary, all metal mode, red button is useful if you get an iffy signal on discriminate. Just hold down the button and if the signal is still weak or iffy the target is probably a deep, nonferrous target. If the signal is strong and loud while holding the button then the target is iron that fooled the iron discrimination circuit a little.

Not having used the Golden I can't recommend it or say anything negative about it either. I do use the Cibola though and I highly recommend it.
