Hey I'm kind of new to treasure hunting, having never found anything of significant value. But I'm aware that most of the hunting is done from a desk or a library. What are some good books to read for someone who is just getting started?

Welcome to T-Net! I like any books written by Charles Garrett...

Check out www.thriftbooks.com for books by Charles.

"Treasure Caches Can Be Found"
"Let's Talk Treasure Hunting"
"Successful Coin Hunting"

Ounce for ounce, the best guide to successful treasure finding (and there are a lot more books about treasure hunting than there are about treasure finding) is Sudden Wealth by "Deek Gladson" - the husband and wife team of Charles Dean and Gladyce Miller. Sadly out of print for years, today a decent copy will set you back about $100. It's worth it. If it doesn't pay for itself, you aren't trying hard enough.

The Treasure Hunter's Manuals #6 and #7 by "Karl von Mueller" (Charles Dean Miller) are far more detailed and informative. They are very different books, although written by the same man and they do have similar titles.

Good luck to all,

The Old Bookaroo
