Finally got a break in the rain here in SC. Seems to have rained every day since deer season ended. Had a great day and finally think I found an old 1700's Tavern site I've been looking for on my hunt club property. If someone can help ID the cut reale it would be great. ''The design of the cross makes it a coin from Mexico City.
The standard weight for an 8 reales coin is 27.468 grams
The weight of a one real coin is about 3.43g; for a 1/2R coin: ~1.71g.
The weight of the OP's coin (2.6g)
The weight of this coin is therefore too great to represent a 1/2 real coin.
Based on the coin's image in the hand, I'd guess it's a 1R coin that has experienced heavy use and possibly further trimming.
My WAG is the coin is from the reign of Felipe V (1700-1746) with the exception of the period between January 1724 and August of that year when his son was king.

If it was a 1R, I wonder if it was clipped (pinching pieces off the edges, like in our hammered coins), rather than cut into change....

Awesome and thanks for digging into this for me. I have looked a so many images on line and this thing under a microscope over the last few days that I've almost gone blind. Thanks again for your wise insight!

Bottom right---- I can't tell the relics size by the tiny little pic but the shape is correct for part of a spur
