The sun was shining, the fields were drying out, I had taken Benson for his first walk of the day And I had done some gardening, well, swept up a bit. There were still a couple hours before lunch, so I grabbed the detector and popped over to one of my local fields. The ground was still frozen and the wind had a bit of a chill to it but it was great to be out in the sun
. Todays finds were quite varied, the usual for these fields, everything from loads of buttons, loads of lead and loads of scrappy bits of unidentifiable metal and one big brass piece that I can't identify yet. But I did find a William 3rd halfpenny, Jetton, a couple of farthings, Lizzy hammered (trashed unfortunately), part of a pocket sundial and some interesting eyeball finds. The eyeball finds, as shown, included a big Mother of pearl button, a small bone button and an interesting carved bone. All in all I did 4 hours on the field and I might go back tomorrow if it doesn't snow or rain too much tonight. Here's the pics.
