It's hard to know what to say at a time like this so let me keep it simple.

Thank you for being here and your posts, I have enjoyed reading them. You will be missed. May God bless you and give you and your family strength in time you have left.

Bon voyage, John!

No man is an island, entire of itself;
every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.
... any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind,
and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls;
it tolls for thee.
~ John Donne, Meditation XVII

I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.

So sorry to hear the news. Our community is small as it is and you will be missed.

John I'm sorry we never got to dig together. I wish you and your family the best. Always enjoyed reading your posts and seeing what cool stuff you plunked from the ground.

John, I know this is a terrible ordeal you and your family are going through. I am sincerely sorry that you must deal with this and you have my deepest heartfelt sympathy. It is difficult to find the words to say to you because know matter what is said, words can't make you feel any better. I will truly miss your posts, especially when you talk about fighting off bums while you are digging. You have made some fantastic finds over the years and I am glad you enjoyed bottle digging the way you have and that you shared those memories with us. I hope you can go through this tragedy with no pain to bear and that you can resolve all of your personal conflicts. I am a devout Christain and I hope that you are as well. If you are not, it is never too late for you to talk with our almighty Lord and be saved. Be strong John, and I will remember you in my payers. Peace be unto you.

Dang John, I'm so sorry to hear about this. I always enjoyed your posts and finds. I couldn't have said it better than Bass did. Lay it all on Jesus. That's what He's here for. We love you, man.
