I am new to the MD and been using the detector since about two weeks now. Have been finding a lot of trash and pennies. Finally got my first relic :D
We live out on an old farm. Found what i believe is an old cow bell. They used to have cows here.
Have a look and i hope you like it. Besides the bell, i also found lots of very old Ford tractor parts, an old spoon, a piece of a Roy Rogers toy gun and a buckle.

Congrats MetalGear!!! I am sure there will be many more interesting finds for you in the very neat future. All I ask is that you post them so we can all see. Now your hooked....ha!

LeJeuene

The bell's kinda round for a cowbell, maybe it was hung somewhere way back when and was used to call the farm hands in for dinner ??? You never know! If these things could talk, we'd sure hear some great stories.

Nice find, I wonder what it's made of..is the middle part missing (the part that makes it ring?)

Nat

Re: Thank you lejeuene .......

I will try to post as much as i can..... and yes.....i am VERY hooked ;D

Re: Hi Jeff ..............

I am using a Bounty Hunter Fast Tracker........ Christmas present from the wife.... she wants to get me out of the house i guess LOL

Found one like that just last week.In my basic research I saw it referred to as a horse bell??
Cool find.....Joe

Re: Hi Nat ...............

Could be.... i will show this to our landlord, she is the daughter of the farmers that build the farm house. She might know. The middle part, that makes the ringing sound is indeed missing. I think it is made out of brass. It is heavy.

Metalgear, welcome to TreasureNet. It's good to have you join us!

Usual shape of a cow bell:

Your bell more resembles IMO an actual door bell, as was found in old stores when the door was opened.

Re: Hi Jopher.................

Thank you for your input. A Horse Bell sounds interesting. They use to have all kinds of animals here on the farm. Could be. Cool that you found one similar recently. Congrats to you too :D

Re: Hi TreasureTales ....................

Thank you for your input. Very interesting. I love this web site. I learn so much here. Metal detecting without Treasurenet would be half as fun :D

Sorry buddy but that is not a cow bell and yes it looks like brass or bronze and worth a lot more than an old steel cow bell. Treasure Tales has a cow bell posted for you and to me your bell would be a much nicer find. Thanks

didn't they use to hang bells on wagons also?

Re: Hi Privet12 ..................

Thanks !!!

I agree, not like the cow bells I've seen. I'm thinking goat or sheep, but it does look like the door bell picture.

What a nice bell :D. I have found couple of bells too. Must post them later.

And gongrats from you first nice relic.

HH

:o Love love lovin' that bell! :o It is indeed a beauty!

I really like that your landlord may have some knowledge of the land, that will come in reallllll handy on the many other treasures I am betting you are going to be finding!!

You also found a Roy Rogers toy gun??? :o WOW!!!

Bogart :D
