Finally after searching and looking and searching I found one of the elusive little guys.
Went to my regular bank to deposit some checks.
Went up to the youngest teller there and went to deposit checks, 3 weeks ago this same teller had $8 face in 40s sitting in her till and I was able to buy all of them. She didnt know they were silver
Today I scan her till and see what looks like a silver quarter.
After she got done with my transaction I asked if I could buy that quarter on the bottom.
"oh, The silver one...sure, wow you must have eyes like a Hawk!" I giggled and I handed her some random state quarter and she gave me back a nice 64d.
I have to say having 20/15 vision is kinda nice.
This was my first silver quarter found in the wild, It made me very happy.
I just had to ask more about where it came from. Had to be a story, the teller said it was the first one she had seen working there and a local business owner brought it in and deposited it with some other funds. The depositor also noted when she made the deposit that it was silver and didnt seem to mind.
I keep forgetting there are people out there that know and just dont care...hence why we find the stuff. It still blows my mind but they must have other things to worry about.
Then I went to my dump bank to dump some halves, bad day as it has been lately, I only got 3 40s out of $1000 in halves. But thats ok, I know I will hit again someday. But I did notice something strange on the top of the auto coin counter. It was a cup, I looked in the cup and it was full of rejects!
WOW! I dumped them in my empty bucket to look though later.
I got some cool stuff out of that hand full, a couple Canadian pennies, a 2002 5 Cent from Nicaragua, a British pence coin, and some really nasty zinc cents that I was able to spend! LOL
And I got one 1934d cent.
Not bad at all considering the way things have been. I am just happy to have made a first find.
