Stopped after work at the trusty fairgrounds tonight for a quickie hunt. I got a 1871 2 center there a few days ago and decided to go back to that area and try to listen for some deep signals. About ten minutes in to the hunt I got a 52 wheatie at about 7 inches. then it wasn't long and I got a hard quarter signal and the depth meter was pegged. Was giving me trouble on getting a good pinpoint as there is alot of trash in this spot but I managed a guess and started diggin, 10 inches later up comes my first every SLQ! Bad part is that besides the date being wore off, I dinged it with my digger :'( I usually am very careful when digging those deep signals but this one kinda gave me fits with the pinpointing and I think there might have been another metal object very close to it that was messin me up. Well at least I got one under my belt now and can go for a better one next time, hopefully with a date on it :D and no digger tracks!

Happy Hunting

Jack my man! I knew it was only a matter of time until that silver started popping out of the ground for ya! The ding don't matter...if it had a date it might, so you are safe on that one. Take a lesson from Jim...he digs really mammoth plugs so he don't damage those precious coins! Congrats big time!

Congrats on the SLQ, cool!

Good luck,
HH.

Congrats Jack, love those S.L Quarters. My favorite all time coin. So much detail on such a small surface. Great find and congrats. Keep em coming. Jim
