Rob is not a dealer. If you are looking for a MD, I would suggest buying used. Just post a WTB ad in the classifieds if you know what model you are looking for. Believe me, it works. I posted a WTB ad on another forum and bought this Gamma within a week. There are alot of good used machines out there. Some of the sponsors on these MD sites even have used MDs they have taken in on trade. Take your time and ask alot of questions while you shop around, it's your money!

Well Hey I got one too!!!! About a year back now I asked a on this Forum about these and got quite a few responses. I was looking fer a Good Detector fer My Girlfriend (but we've broken up now), anyhow my old Fisher Goldbug (original), the Coil turned bad and I went looking to get another one and found out they don't make them anymore and Fisher Labs sold out to another Company down in El Paso Texas and I could never get ahold of them and the New Goldbugs were not Interchangeable with the old one's, so I started a In depth Research to find out more about the Teknetics Gamma 6000. I was more interested in a more elaborate Gold Detector but something swayed me to the Gamma, so anyhow I got one. Out at our Claims in the La Panza Country, I wanted one to hopefully find BlackSand Deposits and hopefully Gold. I ain't a relic collector or hunter at all, I'm only after the Gold, but I happen to also know where alot Old Spanish Mining Activity once was back in those mountains and a fell'er I once knew found quite a few Old Spanish Coins and Gold and Silver Nuggets, so I liked the New Design of these Detectors verses the old ones and besides anyways I'm a Desert Rat at heart and it would only be time that will lead me back into my old Haunts of the desert and I felt this detector would serve me right. So I got it and played around with it and the first time out fount BULLETS, hee, hee, but I was just beginning and learning how this machine works (and still am) and so far I'm TICKLED with it, I just need a Good Pair of their Headphones now. 2nd time out was yesterday and so went back to the Claim and met 2 of my 7 buddies that are also ClaimHolders and we elected to go out and Detect for Blacksand and who knows what else. Mike & Greg were using Whites GMT & MXT...We spent most of the morning wandering around and found a few Blacksand deposits, more bullets, some real OLd Shell Casings, Large Caliber RimFire, 44 rimfire (like what the Henry used) and 45/70 Gov. like what the 7th Calvary used...and one old Brass Shotgun Shell, but no gold....but these finds were dating our area of it being used or at least hunted on a 100 years ago or more...I wasn't digging all of the targets cause I was concentrating on how to understand the Number System and the Discrimination, but when I came upon a Target that constantly read 85 to 99 and there was no or very little dull iron sound, I dug it...and the detector sounds off with Bells and Whistles, digging down 8 1/2 inches, the excitement of finding a nice nugget was running through my puny brain, hee,hee and I wasn't expectin' what it was I found (see pic's), it's an Old Boy Scout Neckerchief Tie Clasp...WOW! This Detector is So KOOL! I am SO TICKLED ABOUT THIS DETECTOR...As soon as I grasp and understand all of the functions on this machine (and get some headphones) I should be ready to tackle this other Canyon High Up on the Claim that supposedly has a Gold Nugget Patch....here's some pic's......Darrell Teknetics Gamma 6000 001.webpTeknetics Gamma 6000 002.webpTeknetics Gamma 6000 003.webpTeknetics Gamma 6000 004.webpTeknetics Gamma 6000 005.webpTeknetics Gamma 6000 006.webpTeknetics Gamma 6000 007.webp

The Gamma 6000 is a VERY underrated machine! Great detector for the $! Love it!

Congrats HappyTrails55! I have had my Gamma out at the local parks/tot lots to get comfortable with it. Swinging it in some trashy parks helps me understand what it is trying to tell me so I can hopefully dig good targets in greater numbers. The more I use this machine the more I like it! I have the 11"DD coil on it which isn't the ideal coil for trashy parks but it does a pretty good job of separating the trash and coins.
I have only used concentric coils over the years so the DD took just a couple hunts to get used to. I will be looking to pick up a small coil for it next spring to hit the tot lots and try to use the 11"DD coil on the more open, less trashy areas. That 11"DD can go deep. I had the sensitivity on the default setting of 80(75%) and was hitting dimes/pennies strong at 6" at an old ball field. This Gamma likes nickels too.
I am very happy with my decision to get the Gamma as I am sure you will be also. Thanks for posting, seems like there aren't many Gamma users on any of the forums. Good luck and HH!:icon_thumright:

Darrell,

Run that volume on the Gamma all the way at 10. Even though the Gamma doesn't have a threshold adjustment, running the volume at full is the next best thing so you don't miss any of those deep signals.
I can give you an example from my hunt today. I was hunting a park/public swimming pool area today just outside the fence and entrance of the pool. In a public park, I set my sensitivity to 55-60 due to all the trash plus knowing that the park/pool was built in 1973 means coins won't be more than 4"-5" deep at the most. I had the volume set at 10 on the Gamma and had the headphones adjusted to a comfortable level.Mineralization was at about 60 according to the ground grab(gotta love that feature). I came across a whisper high tone(quarter) that hit in both directions but as I said it was faint. Just for the heck of it, I upped the sensitivity to 80. To experiment a little more,I set the sensitivity back to 60 and turned the volume down on the machine to 4 and swung over the target....no tone was heard at all. It proved to me that running the volume on the Gamma at 10 with the headphones at a comfortable but slightly loud setting helped me hear that high whisper tone that otherwise may have been missed completely since I listen for tone first then look at the screen. Hope this makes sense and helps. Brian

Okay, I understand, Thankyou....I also ordered from that guy one of those Garrett Picks with the magnet attached...haven't seen those around lately and I don't know why cause they are outstanding, but years back when the Magna-Picks first came out, I had one and always used it when detecting and it was great, but I accidentally like left it at a spot where I found the old remains of a Spanish Harquebus Rifle, that was years ago, in the desert (wish I could spell). guess i got too excited and forgot it...Anyhow I got that too, so now I'll probably get those Headphones by this weekend or next week and then go out and start Nugget Hunting...But to emphasise this, I really aim to find Black Sand Deposits and though the creeks and valley of where our claim is has black sand, there is not a proliferation of it like what one would think. So I'm a stinking (thinking, hee, hee) that those deposits are higher up and probably in those Nugget Patches. Those headphones are going to be added insurance...And I Thankyou Again Brian for the Tip's !!!...Darrell

Good luck my friend:icon_thumright:.It definitely sounds like you are on the right track. Keep in touch.

as Bart said the Gamma is very under rated and just as deep as the Omega!
