Metal Detecting
I woke-up this morning with the ground covered in a light snow. Not a lot, but just enough to cover the ground. It's strange to see flowers, bushes and trees blooming with snow on the ground.

My day got off to a slow start detecting, but I finally got on a good site and starting digging wheat pennies. I knew it wouldn't be long before I'd start popping some silver coins. I was using my F75DST with the 10 inch elliptical concentric search coil, full sensitivity, no discrimination, jewelry mode and 4H audio tones.

I worked the yard pretty hard and recovered a couple of Rosie dimes, a Mercury dime, a silver Washington quarter, a few wheat pennies and some clad coins, before switching detectors.

I pulled out my Tesoro Mojave, set it to full sensitivity, set the discrimination just high enough to discriminate out a nail and had the ground condition switch set to 'low', before starting to work the real trashy areas beside the driveway and alone the service walk to the front door.

The little Mojave really showed itself out in the amount of good targets that it was recovering. It was finding clad quarters, dimes, wheat pennies, copper pennies and nickels all up and down the edges of the driveway and service walk that my F75 had missed. My F75 and Mojave are going to make a great team.

I was wearing down from all the digging so I decided detect my way back to the my SUV. Right in the middle of the yard I got a nice clean audio tone. I dug a plug and out pops this beautiful gold coin ring. I was saying oh boy, oh boy and my heart was racing. I finally got it cleaned off enough to see, '18K GF". Damn!

You can't win them all. I'm happy that I ended up with 4 nice silver coins, 13 wheat pennies and plenty of clad coins before heading to the house.

Fantastic yet again. I always enjoy seeing the silver coins you find! That gold ring is still a success in my books!

Thanks! I had my heart set on a coin ring.

That GF stuff really depresses me, too! LOL Sometimes though, I know before it gets to me. I hope, but gold just is so dense, it's hard to miss when it hits your hands...

I still scour the item, though, hoping that maybe my hand just got super strong or gravity is failing or something. Still a fun find!

Thanks! I had a real rush there for a minute or two. That ring looked like the thing when it popped out the ground.
