That 1925 numeral shaped dog tax tag is AWESOME!! WOOHOO

FYI ~ the oldest reported dog tag from Biloxi MS is dated 1913. However, there easily could be ones older than that. Just none have been found or reported yet.
Thanks. It cleaned up much nicer than I could have imagined. it took a little work to get that rust off of it. I guess it must have had a iron on it that attaches to a collar.

Found a pre 1900s dog tax tag from Lee's summit Missouri. I didnt even know what it was until I got home and cleaned some of the dirt off and to my surprise it said 1884! 20190916_133346.jpg

Is there somewhere we can see a list or something of the O.K.? I've got a few from 1920s to 50s from a couple counties in Ohio, I'll try and post some pictures (or send them to you for the O.K. list) tomorrow.

I have the newest edition of Dr. William Bones book US DOG LICENSE TAGS. Let me know what tags you have and I can look 'em up!

The Ohio county issued tags are very well documented. Most of the counties started issuing tags in 1918.

I don't have much info on the 1881 tag . . . it is a maverick . . . doesn't reference the town/city it was issued in. They are next to impossible to research because of the limited info

Is this an old dog tag? If so, does it have any value? 6F644180-E52D-4A17-9548-DC02FFBD5DB2.jpeg 6F644180-E52D-4A17-9548-DC02FFBD5DB2.jpeg

I dug this 1920 Wise County, VA one in the town of Wise a few years back. It’s not very pretty but still cool to think it’s 100 years old this year. Tonight I dug this 1959 Virginia “unsexed” tag in Gate City, VA.
