I dug 7 more of the 1920 tags in the same lot as my other one a few days ago. The Simplex found what my F2 missed for sure! ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1587062756.252025.jpg

Bought this tag the other day for 15 bucks. I live in Van Buren, Arkansas. Can you check what the O.K. tag in my town is? Thanks! Screenshot_20200615-185937.png

That 1890 VanBuren AR tag is awesome! The book has 1890 listed as the oldest know from there.

$15 is a steal ~ that is probably $100 tag!

Thanks oddcoins! Is there a picture of the listed tag in the book? Just wondering if my tag is the same one listed, or would be the 2nd known.

Hi Neil...
So I got one for ya...
Found this in Oakland, MD., Garrett County.
Where are we as far as O.K. for this area?

Thankyou in advance BWD.

P.S. do I still have 1925 as a record holder in Ft. Myers?

Very interesting tag! I assume the other side is blank, right?

I am not familiar with that tag. 1918 is a very late date for a "maverick" tag. And the serial number is quite large ~ #3223.

This one is gonna take some research!

Yes, reverse is blank
This area was very isolated back then, so yeah, the serial number seems high
In 1918 there were 23 counties in MD, so that rules out the 32 as a county indicator.
Very close to WV here, but found in a residential neighborhood, seems unlikely the dog was a traveler.

Hello oddcoins...Dog tags and pet licenses are really cool to find, always love to dig em. Here in Nebraska, people love their pets and in 10 years of detecting have dug 6 tags. The oldest being a 1934 Omaha one, dug it about 3 inches away from a street curb. My detecting friend dug a 1905 one right in front of me about 2 weeks ago. Good post !

Oh yeah! That is great!! Dog tags are my favorite treasures to dig. Unfortunately I don't find as many as I'd like to, but at least I get to see other peoples' finds. LOL

PLEASE have your friend e-mail me pictures of their 1905 dog tag. I'd love to see it

Just recovered a dog license:

DSC09785.JPG DSC09786.JPG

It's Austerlitz NY, Columbia County and dated 1911. I've never found another tag from this town and I couldn't find any other examples online. Is it the oldest known for the town and are there any others of any date from Austerlitz in your database?
