Man it’s hot down here! I’ve been working a lot and not doing much digging. My plans were to rest today after a long working weekend. Just as I was lying down for an ole man afternoon nap my buddy who lives on one of my fort sites called to let me know he moved a little dirt around in his yard and told me to come down and bring my detector. I jumped up and loaded my equipment for a 45 minute drive. I was able to detect for about an hour while dodging rain showers and made a few finds. My first find was the forage cap infantry button. I’m gonna soak it overnight and hit it with a toothpick tomorrow. The other two buttons are a four hole pewter trouser button and an artillery cuff button. A total of 6 musketballs, a few pieces of lead flint wraps and a base of a large mallet bottle.
Anyway I had a good time looking.
Thanks for looking and happy hunting to all.

neat finds all around, really cool button

Really great finds, especially in one hour. Those lead pieces seem to have some kind of imprint on them, any idea what that might be, other than my over active imagination? By any chance is your fort site anywhere along the Capron Trail? A positive reply is still pretty vague given the length of the trail and the number of forts. Keep up the great fort hunts, I really enjoy reading about them. Some are not too far away from me.

Naps are overrated anyway. Lol. Pretty cool finds. Congratulations.

Hey Sandog. Yes those lead pieces are scraps from lead flint wraps. Those pieces held the flint for the flint lock rifles.
The fort I was hunting is near Palatka.
Thanks for your response.
