Got out today for about 2hrs 3 token and a large cent

Was able to get out today for a few hours and hit one of my permission that has yet to produce any silver! Did get a few tokens one being a local that I've never found Wheaton Brothers Fieldon Illinois, the button is a Excelsior but in my research I'm unable to find a match. This makes about 12 1853 large cents that must be a high minted year!! Any input on the button would be appreciated.

That's one of the wonders of our passion.
Like digging a GW Button in Ontario, Vermont copper. Makes a person wonder, like digging a 1797 English Cartwheel at a 1895 schoolhouse.

I actually dug a Cartwheel penny at a 1870s schoolhouse a few years ago and gave it to the property owner!

Congrats on the great finds !

Makes sense that the further you go West the newer the dates on the Large Cents (and other coins) gets on average.
We are East of you and the majority of the Large Cents I've found in our area have 1830's and 1840's dates.
When you look at Large Cents that get posted in Pennsylvania -100 - 200 miles East of us they tend to be much older on average.

In 1853 they made 6,641,131. Similar amounts were made in ‘47, ‘48, and ‘52. The biggest year was 1851, with 9,889,707 being minted.
